Well worth the wait, we bring you chapter 8 of the endlessly unpredictable DANCE KREMLIN PALACE!!!!!! I, for one, have been starving for some good Kago insanity, and this new chapter does not dissapoint. Power Ranger clones, Cheburashka, and man-rape all gush from Kago’s overwhelmingly demented mind.Also, Same Hat! is posting updates and quick translations of Kago’s daily drawings. Fuan no Tane by Nakayama Masaaki

Fuan no Tane is a collection of very short horror stories. Nakayama uses lots of urban legends to base his stories on and channels them into short bursts of terror. His art is ultra-precise and his monsters are really disquieting. Altogether, something I knew you guys would be interested in.

Tsama translated this and was kind enough to let me host it on my site. I had nothing to do with the translation (although I wish I did!). Tsama’s email is in the files, so please thank him for letting us have a glimpse of this awesome artist.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…. oh man, that one always gets me.Welcome to the fifth and regretably final day of non-stopping scanning action. Fox.out posted a comment about the 7th chapter being on a torrent site, so I’m going to post this now. DKP CH7!!!!! Woo Hooooooooo!This chapter is all about the freezing exports of Siberia. Freezing fish, freezing produce, freezing fear… you know, freezing. Obviously, it takes the usual Kago descent path into madness. It is definitely NSFW, NSTPWYD, and NSIYNIKOYD (prizes for whoever figures these out, seriously.)Enjoy it! I gotta go back to work.

As a special treat for everybody waiting for Dance Kremlin Palace to finish, Anonymous K and I took a break to clear our heads of all the Russian gunk and get down to the bread and butter of Kagomania.

The Collection is a fucked-up story of one girl’s obsession with a dude. She collects everything he touches… EVERYTHING. Very NSFW, NSIFOYGF, and NSIFOYMAD (try to figure out those last two!).

Thanks for being so patient. I’m happy to release the next chapter of our ongoing Russian soap opera, Dance Kremlin Palace. This chapter focuses on the harmful (or pleasant) side effects of stress brought on by the cold war. Poor Khrushchev… The things one man does for love.

Yeah, yeah. I know how long it’s been. I would like to say I’ve been completely swamped with homework (which is true), working overtime (also true), and all around busy (which is totally true), but to be honest there were lots of times where I chose playing video games or reading manga over updating the blog. So, I’m sorry guys and gals. I know how bad you’ve been jonesing for this chapter. I guarantee it won’t disappoint.The newest chapter of DKP is an apocalyptic future prediction for Kago’s surreal USSR. As usual, he takes stereotypes to the extreme, causing the utter collapse of the country. Some pretty brutal images (see above), so don’t read this at work (save it ’till your mom walks in the room!).Also, there’s been lots of activity from a Russian forum. I can’t really read what they’re saying (altavista doesn’t do languages justice), but I have gotten some odd comments from a few Russians. So, I thought I’d include my personal statement about the comic:As with any parody/satire there will be many people who are offended. There is humor and derision in the story, but I don’t feel it is aimed at the Russian people or Russian culture. Instead, I feel the finger is pointing straight back at the Japanese people. The manga takes ignorance about other cultures and pushes it to the extreme. Someone casually saying, “Oh, look at that Russian. He must like vodka,” might not realize how ignorant they are. By making an entire book about extreme prejudice, Kago intends to illuminate his readers to their own prejudice. This issue is even more poignant in this most recent chapter, where he basically goes down a list of stereotypes. That same person who made the vodka comment might see the image of a mob of Russians attached to a plane trying to drink it’s fuel (because of a vodka shortage) and somehow make the connection between this image of extreme prejudice and their own.Anyways, that’s how I see it. New chapter of DKP! Gorbachev is the main character, lovingly referred to as Gorbie. This chapter is about the concept of Glasnost, which if anyone else went through the American school system, you’re probably as ignorant as I am. Check out this Wikipedia article to get some background (not that it really matters. Kago makes Glasnost a super power).

Stalin is the hero in our newest installment. Not yet endowed with supernatural purging powers, Stalin shows off his bad-ass martial arts skills in protecting the values of communist farming! Totally NSFW, and maybe the most extreme chapter yet.Anonymous K and I are still keeping up on this 1 chapter/week schedule, but in another month, there might be a slow down. School just started back up, so there’ll be less time for me to search Wikipedia to figure out what a pirogie is. Speaking of which, I’ve learned more about Russia while translating this manga than I ever did in history class. Even though most of the content is satirical, usually the theme that it’s based on is historical.On a side note, I youtubed it, looking for some crazy vidz of Shintaro Kago right before writing this post. The only thing I came up with was the interview with him in Amsterdam that Same Hat already posted, and trailers of a video game. The game is called Mondo Agency, and its totally sweet. One of the keywords is Shintaro Kago, and the vid poster mentioned that the reason he used his name as a keyword was to attract interesting people. I played the game, and it’s really amazing. The most recent chapter of DKP finds our multi-cultural Kago taking on the theme of Russian expansion. Of course, he takes it to the most logical conclusion, weird pump sex, JoJo-like stand summonings, Russian-Japanese aggression, and lots of bloated corpses. A very satisfying chapter with a little something for everyone (except for your boss. Yes, this is NSFW again. I know, right?).
