Devilman by Go Nagai (Volume 04+05)
As a sort of apology for being AWOL for so long, I’m finishing up posting Devilman. The series ends incredible well, and destroyed my expectations. This series is really more in the end-of-the-world, apocalyptic vein, which caught me off guard. It starts out more in the shonen style but is something completely different by the end. Definitely a must-read.
And with Kodansha opening up shop in America, there might be some sort of chance that Devilman could get published. Usually Japanese publishers have less of an idea of what would sell in America, and instead try publishing series that were huge in Japan. Devilman would fall into this category, as it was a big hit.
The reason I was so gone for a while is because I have a new addition to my family. “Maybe” was brought home from the kennel on September 8th. She’s an adorable B/W border collie mix. Unfortunately, since we brought her home, she’s developed pneumonia, and we’ve been trying to bring her back to health all this time. She’s feeling much better now, though she still has a nasty cough.

Here’s hoping that this title does eventually see the light again in English.
As you know, it was previously published briefly in English (the first 1-2 volumes?) and has been published in many european countries. If I heard right from Anonymous K– this translation was sourced from a European edition and not the original Japanese, correct?

Correct. I translated it from the Italian Version. However I can assure you the italian version has an incredibly good translation, and I’ve personally had it checked from a japanese friend of mine that assured me all is good.
